ABOUT US

The manifestation The Tolsum Secret was developed by Tresoar and Fries Museum as a result of a new investigation into the details of the Roman stilus tablet of Tolsum (collection Fries Museum). This new research was made possible by Tresoar (Leeuwarden) and Fries Museum (Leeuwarden).

The manifestation included a press conference of the newly established reading of the text (April 23rd 2009), an international conference The Tolsum Secret (April 24th 2009), and a travelling exhibition of the Tolsum tablet (may – june 2009). In 2010 Tresoar and Fries Museum have added up a publication (H.A. Laagland, E. Kramer, J. van Sluis, L.A. de Vries (red.), Het geheim van Tolsum. Een herinterpretatie van een Romeins schrijfplankje, Fryske Akademy, Leeuwarden 2009 (special issue It Beaken issn 0005-738X)) and this website The Tolsum Secret (www.tolsum.nl)
